King George VI of the United Kingdom
Albert Frederick Arthur George olarak dünyaya gelen VI. George, 14 Aralık 1895’te Birleşik Krallık’ın Norfolk bölgesinde doğdu. 6 Şubat 1952’de vefat edene dek üstlendiği taht görevini sürdürdü; 11 Aralık 1936’dan itibaren Birleşik Krallık ile Britanya Milletler Topluluğu’nun bağlı devletlerinin hükümdarı oldu. Tahta çıkışıyla birlikte hem Hindistan’ın son imparatoru unvanını taşıdı hem de Milletler Topluluğu’nun ilk başkanı sıfatıyla tarihe geçti. Bu iki rol, saltanatının hem imparatorluk döneminin son evresini hem de savaş sonrası yeni uluslararası düzenin şekillenmesini aynı anda temsil etmesini sağladı. Sinema kayıtlarında Britanya ve Blitz yapımlarıyla anılan VI. George, belgesel ve arşiv niteliğindeki bu eserlerde kendi kişiliği ve dönemin tanıklığıyla ekrana yansımıştır.
